Avoid the Antibiotics When the bronchial tubes that
carry air to and from the lungs become inflamed and irritated, mucus forms and makes you cough. But since 90 percent of acute bronchitis cases are viral, antibiotics can’t offer relief. Instead, take over-the-counter cough medicine containing an expectorant to help release mucus, rest, and drink lots of fluids. Breathing warm, moist air may also help.McMurry © 2010.
