After-Hours Care The hospital emergency room (ER) is good for emergencies, but it is not the place to go for routine or non-emergency care. Call your own doctor first if you have a health concern. He or she has your medical record and can advise you best.
Knowing where to go for care is as easy as 1, 2, 3: 1.) Get to know your doctor. 2.) When you’re sick, try to see your doctor first. 3.) An urgent care facility is a good alternative if your doctor is unavailable. Use Find-A-Doc at our website to find out about urgent care centers near you. Click on the “Urgent Care” tab and narrow your search by ZIP code or city. Of course, if you experience a condition so sudden and severe that care is needed right away to avoid bodily harm, call 911 or go to the nearest ER. McMurry © 2010. All rights reserved.
